Daniel Springs Baptist Camp traces its origin back to the late 1950’s when the Daniel family donated 20 acres of land to create a Christian summer camp. They later leased an additional 33.3 acres to the camp, bringing the total footprint to just over 50 acres in the piney woods of east Texas. The camp opened in 1965, and it has hosted thousands of youth every summer for 48 years. The camp’s early days were marked by churches that began annual summer pilgrimages to the camp, sponsoring cabins and creating a multi-generational connection to Daniel Springs. Today, over 3000 youth pass through the camp each summer in the form of youth groups from all over the southern regions of the country.

Daniel Springs was later assimilated into Disciple Guide, a resource ministry of the Baptist Missionary Association (BMA), which continues the great traditions of the camp. After 34 years at the helm, James Speer, the current Executive Director at Daniel Springs, is retiring. His retirement is opening the door for a fresh face and perspective at Daniel Springs.

The new Executive Director will be the primary visionary and executer of the future ministry at Daniel Springs. The successful candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit and vision for a bright future for Daniel Springs, as well as a solid strategy for its implementation. The new Executive Director's vision will be to guide Daniel Springs to become a premier camping experience offering year round programs.

Significant experience (5+ years) in a leadership role at a leading regional or national camp is required. Experience with Staff Development, Marketing, and Facilities Development are highly desirable. The successful candidate will at minimum hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. A Masters degree in biblical studies or divinity is preferred but not required. Most importantly, the Executive Director must have a strong, demonstrated relationship with Jesus Christ, guided by a commitment to following the principles spelled out in the Bible for living a life of thankful service to God. They will have an entrepreneurial spirit, “can do” attitude, a self-starter who requires very little oversight, and be promotionally minded to captivate new campers, staff members, and donors.

Camp Daniel Springs is located in Gary, TX, just outside of Carthage in the piney woods of East Texas. The population of Carthage is around 6,800. It has all the charm and warmth one would expect from a small Texas town and is a great place for families. There are good public schools and a local community college, Panola College, in the middle of town. Carthage is also home to the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame. The town of Carthage was recently made famous by the film, Bernie, which was filmed there.
