Position Profile

Manager and Coordinator needed for SIM Sebring Retirement Village

 

The SIM Sebring Retirement Village is a nonprofit missionary retirement community for retired SIM missionaries and retired missionaries from other mission organizations. Since 1966 Sebring Retirement Village has provided modest, affordable homes for retired SIM missionaries. The village administration takes as its foremost task the care and wellbeing of the retirement community.

 

SIM is looking for a couple to serve as Sebring Retirement Village Manager and Village Coordinator. This is a missionary support raising position OR it may be that the couple is at a point in life of not needing a regular salary. SIM would provide a house at Sebring and medical insurance. (SIM USA has several “finishers” who are financially able to work without a salary and able to give of their time and gifting for the Lord’s work.)

The Sebring Retirement Village Manager and Coordinator positions both require a pastoral/caring heart for the elderly and good leadership/administrative abilities. SIM would like a commitment of five years.

The manager of Sebring Retirement Village provides oversight and leadership of all aspects of the Village.

 

Some of the tasks of the Sebring manager include:

  • Oversee medical, assisted living facility (Lodge) and facilities departments
  • Coordinate staff
  • Oversee hiring employed staff
  • Provide financial help to residents
  • Manage funeral arrangements of Village residents
  • Oversee spiritual and social activities
  • Represent Village on committees (local and headquarters)
  • Plan future development of the Village
  • Act as liaison between local community and SIM membership

Reports to:

  • SIM USA Deputy Director

 

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Office manager
  • Supervises three department heads (assisted living facility, medical, facilities)

Qualifications include:

  • Proven team leader
  • Good administrative skills
  • Relate well to the elderly
  • Ability to supervise multiple phases of ministry simultaneously
  • Strong communicator
  • Financial expertise
  • Good sense of humor

 

Experience and Education:

  • College
  • Minimum of five years in supervisor/managerial position – preferably more
  • Experience leading a team
  • Literacy with balance sheets and budgeting
  • Computer skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Good general health
  • Able to manage stress

  • Strong faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and history of spiritual growth
  • God-honoring lifestyle
  • Regular attender and member in good standing of a local, evangelical church
  • Committed to grow as a follower of Jesus Christ
  • Affirm SIM’s Statement of Faith, Core Values, and relational expectations as contained in the SIM Commitment  
  • Passion for God’s global mission
  • Attend and participate in SIM prayer and worship times
  • Minister to SIM missionaries, staff, ministry partners, prayer partners, local churches, and donors through prayer, words of encouragement, and acts of service

The Sebring Coordinator tasks are more flexible but include:

Oversight of –

  • Prospective residents/promoting housing
  • Transitions of residents into and within village
  • Volunteer women
  • Guest houses
  • Village events
  • Staff events, including retreat
  • Weekly announcements

Compensation:

  • Raises salary as a faith-supported missionary (or self-supporting volunteer)
