Large, growing, evangelical church in central Johnson County Kansas is in need of a facilities engineer. Excellent compensation with full benefits and ample paid time off.

 

Overall Position Description

The Property & Facilities Engineer will be an integral part of the entire staff team and will be a chief advocate on staff for all things related to our property and facilities. This position will give vision and oversight to all of our current and future property. The Property & Facilities Engineer will also maintain a firm grasp on the purpose, vision, values, and strategic initiatives of the church, ensuring that everyone on their team(s) remain properly aligned with overall church goals and direction.  This individual will be responsible for the overall maintenance of the church buildings, grounds, and equipment. While other staff members do much of this work, as well as contractors, Deacons and volunteers, the responsibility lies with the Property & Facilities Engineer to ensure everything is accomplished. This individual is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all mechanical and building equipment, including heating and air conditioning. They develop and implement scheduled cleaning, maintenance routes and remodeling plans. The Property & Facilities Engineer manages utilities and building security and is responsible for coordinating the room and equipment set up for all church functions by supervising and helping our custodians, other maintenance staff, and related contractors, but is capable of personally performing many tasks themselves if needed.

Key Focus Areas

Being the key leader of our Property & Facilities Team executing the strategies related to our property and facilities in order to help our church body follow Jesus.

-       Attend weekly meetings with the Executive Pastor

-       Participate in All Staff meetings

-       Lead the Property & Facilities Team well

-       Oversee all full-time and part-time facility care specialists, custodial and janitorial staff

-       Make hiring and firing recommendations to the Executive Pastor

-       Oversee/assist with any contracted projects specified by the Board or Executive Pastor

-       Provide oversight for all lay volunteers working on our buildings and grounds

-       Manage all keys (hard and electronic) and all Security & Alarm Systems

-       Manage all property and facilities contracts (mechanical, lawn care, fire suppression, etc.)

 

General Tasks (to be done by Property & Facilities Engineer, Custodians, Deacons and/or volunteers)

–      Ensure all Property and Facilities are clean and ready for ministry

–      Ensure all tools and equipment are in good working order

–      Regularly check all HVAC equipment and ensure computer systems are operating correctly

–      Ensure all HVAC thermostat settings are correct

–      General grounds maintenance

–      Manage the Property & Facilities portion of the Annual Operating Budget

–      Check lighting system, and ensure light bulbs are replaced

–      Build, repair and/or maintain various items

–      Ensure sidewalks are clear prior to church services

–      Be available during designated hours for emergency situations

–      Maintain adequate maintenance and cleaning supplies

–      Account for all door and equipment keys are in master box

–      Service and maintain church vehicles

–      Make sure outdoor fountains and irrigation systems are functioning properly

–      Identify needed repairs and discuss with the Executive Pastor

–      Regularly inspects facilities for leaks

–      Ensure all scheduled lighting timers are operating and reset as needed throughout year

–      Schedule and/or preform all needed pest control

–      Maintain all storage and maintenance areas

–      Ensure our Property & Facilities are in compliance with all local codes

–      Be available for all special events

–      Accompany all inspectors and contract maintenance personnel throughout the property

–      Purchase and Inventory appropriate supplies

–      Assist with loading, unloading and moving incoming/outgoing equipment and supplies

–      Repair equipment

–      Replace ballasts and light bulbs

–      Maintain emergency lights

–      Repair leaks in building

–      Repair plumbing

–      Repair electrical

–      Repair fixtures, furnishings, equipment and tools

–      Coordinate with the Executive Pastor on issues that have potential to affect operations
