 Job Description

DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT

 

Objectives of the Position: The Director of Development strategically plans, implements, and coordinates fundraising efforts and community activities that will encourage, maintain, and increase philanthropic support to meet the short and long term needs of the organization by connecting with individuals, corporations, churches, and para-church organizations in the community.

 

Reports to:  The Executive Director

 

Status: Part-time

 

Supervises:  Volunteer development team

 

Qualifications:   Applicant should:

  • Be a committed Christian who demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord
  • Exhibit strong commitment and dedication to the pro-life position and sexual purity
  • Agree with and be willing to uphold the Statement of Principle, Statement of Faith, Code of Christian Conduct, and policies of the Center
  • Exhibit strong skills in interpersonal communication, public speaking and problem solving
  • Exhibit strong strategic thinking skills
  • Be proficient in general computer operations including MS Word, and Excel
  • Exhibit excellent organizational skills and time management
  • Be able to carry out responsibilities with little or no supervision
  • Have a bachelor’s degree, preferably in a helping field, or related experience equivalent
  • At least 3-5years experience in non-profit organizational fundraising and event planning preferred
  • CFRE certification desirable

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of all facets of the ministry and be able to communicate the vision and mission of the organization
  • Prepare an annual development plan in collaboration with the Executive Director; when complete, such plan will include those goals designated by the Board of Directors, the objectives and activities consistent with those goals, a model for evaluating effectiveness, and budgetary requirements
  • Devise and implement specific strategies to develop relationships with individual donors and cultivate these relationships to expand the ministry's donor base.
  • Plan and execute all fundraising events including the Annual Gala, Walk-for-Life ,Baby Bottle Boomerang, Sporting Clay's Classic, Ride-for-Life and restaurant fundraisers. Plan and execute all future fundraising endeavors and oversee any third-party fundraisers
  •  Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key contacts within the community; this includes businesses, civic groups, and philanthropic prospects; identify potential fundraising opportunities within these groups and recommend a course of action for entering these markets
  • Assist the Board and Executive Director in developing and implementing various fundraising capital campaigns
  • Research, develop and maintain an ongoing relationship with pastors and churches in the community
  • Recruit, train and maintain local church liaisons relationships
  • Lead in planning and scheduling the activities and staff speaking opportunities for Sanctity of Human Life Sunday
  • Research grant options and assist with grant writing
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of computer software programs specifically designed to facilitate accurate donor and prospect information; ensuring that donor and prospect records and history are current, accurate, and protected
  • Serve as permanent chairperson of the Development Committee consisting of Board members and other individuals serving ad hoc
  • Train and oversee volunteer team members who assist in various areas of responsibility
