Reports to the Senior Associate Pastor


Ministry Description / Purpose

  • Provide pastoral leadership and oversight to all 6 through 12 grade students at Grace Community Church.

 Qualifications

  • Able to communicate and teach effectively
  • Meets biblical standards for elders/pastors
  • Youth ministry experience- volunteer or professionally
  • Some sort of biblical training (or willing to get it)
  • Relates well to youth and families
  • Has skills to mobilize volunteers

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree

 Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and cast vision for the ministry supporting the greater ministry of the church.
  • Mobilize and inspire a team of volunteers to accomplish ministry goals. 
  • Craft sermon series and be able to execute relevant engaging messages.
  • Develop interns and maintain a thriving intern program.
  • Relationally available for students and their families.
  • Ready to resource families of Grace with what they might need.
  • Serve in the Pastor On Call system at Grace
  • Advocate for an environment that is student friendly
  • Attending student’s games, events, and life moments.
  • Manage Student Ministries MAs and associate pastor making sure the administration of ministry is happening
  • Maintain a current understanding and good stewarding of the Student Ministries budgets.
  • Continually innovating programs and strategies for more effective ministry.

About Grace Community Church

Grace Community Church was founded in 1965 by four families with a vision to build a community church on the southern edge of Tempe, Arizona. The goal was to minister to all of the new families moving into the rapidly growing community. Grace has experienced seasons of incredible growth, community and global outreach expansion, building and property expansion as well as ministry opportunities that include a school (Grace Christian Academy), a lodge on Rainbow Lake for retreats, and a thrift store and community outreach center (Gracies Thrift Store). In 2015, Des Wadsworth joined staff as the lead pastor and now leads the church in collaboration with Mark Zurowski (Senior Associate Pastor.

We are a diverse community church, we exist to Grow Richly, Reach Intentionally, Adore Passionately, Connect Authentically and Engage Wholeheartedly. As we pursue this mission, we do so with a 2020 vision focused on intentionally being: Outward Focused, Reaching Unreached People, A Place where Every Generation Matters, and Engaging the Next Generation. Sunday attendance ranges from 1100-1250.
