Children’s Ministry Director

East Valley Church in San Jose, CA is looking for an experienced children’s leader who has a passion for seeing young people come to know, love and serve Jesus Christ while supporting the leadership in advancing ministries designed to accomplish the vision and mission of the church. Our ideal candidate will be a good communicator who is relational, diligent, creative, outward-reaching, organized and flexible. This individual will provide leadership, development, direction and training for the Children’s Ministry team in addition to becoming a church member and passing a background check.

3-5 years of experience

Bachelor’s degree preferred

Time Commitment:                                    Full time

Working Relationships:                           Responsible to the Senior Pastor

Summary of Primary Responsibilities:

• Review (with Senior Pastor), purchase and oversee the implementation of all curriculums for the teaching component of Children’s ministry
• Recruit and oversee workers providing leadership, training, encouragement and appreciation to all children’s ministry workers
• Seek to design and improve existing children’s ministries and events to accomplish the vision and mission
• Be prepared to teach as needed
• Provide oversight to Nursery & Nursery Coordinator in addition to training, ensuring effective functioning & safety
• Update policies and check in/out procedures, ensure background checks are completed and develop a media plan 
• Use appropriate judgment in the areas of discretion, sensitivity and confidentiality
• Maintain a cooperative, healthy and motivating relationship with pastoral staff, coworkers, parents and children
• Develop and maintain safe, clean, aesthetic environments
• Coordinate childcare for occasional all-church events
• Meets regularly with the Senior and Youth Pastor to discuss ministry strategy and effectiveness

EVC currently offers the following ongoing ministries for children:

Weekly

• Children’s church during worship service on Sunday mornings (approx. 15-20 kids)
• Children’s Sunday School following worship service when adult classes offered (approx. 8-10 kids)
• Kid’s Club (Thursdays after-school outreach at Cedar Grove) 1^st-6^th grade
• Big House (mid-week Tuesday night program for 1^st-6^th graders)

Seasonal Outreach Events

• Easter Weekend Egg-stravaganza and Petting Zoo (Saturday of Easter weekend)
• Vacation Bible School (1 week in summer / approx. 100 kids)
• Sport’s Camp (1 week in summer / approx. 100 kids)
• Fall Festival (1 evening in fall)
