Background

Westiminster Presbyterian Church is a growing PCUSA congregation in the National Capital Presbytery, deeply committed to study, service, and sharing God's love.  The church has approximately 1,000 members and routine Sunday attendance varies between 350-450 (Christmas and Easter attendance is usually 900).  During the summer, Westminster has only one Sunday service at 10AM in the main sanctuary.  From September to May, there are two services, one at 8:30AM in the chapel and one at 11AM in the main sanctuary.

Music at WPC is a disciplined and traditional program, with music presented by a 30-voice adult chancel choir, two large childrens choirs, and two handbell ensembles.  Sundays that traditionally have extensive musical content include Palm Sunday, Easter Sunday, Remembrance Sunday (closest to Veterans Day), Festival Sunday (the Sunday before Christmas) and Christmas Eve.  Instrumental accompaniment in the chapel is a 2008 Allen "Protege" electronic organ (2 manual / 28 stops).  The main sanctuary has both a 2007 Steinway Grand Model B piano and a 1965 Moeller pipe organ (3-manual / 57 stops / 32 memory levels / 46 ranks).  The church has agreements with other instrumentalists, including the Commonwealth Brass (the Sunday before Christmas and Easter Sunday each year).  The church will transition in June 2017 from the current Presbyterian Hymnal (1990) to the new "Glory to God" Presbyterian hymnal (2013).
