Christian Connections for International Health, www.ccih.org, is a large, diverse, global membership association of approximately 150 Christian organizations, 20 secular or interfaith affiliate organizations, and over 400 individual members. It has a budget
financed by member dues and a variety of grants. CCIH has earned a respected reputation for its information dissemination and networking services and as an advocacy voice for faith-based organizations in the professional global health and development community.
Reporting to the CCIH Board of Directors, the Executive Director of CCIH will have overall responsibility for implementing CCIH’s strategic plan, with the mission of promoting global health and wholeness from a Christian perspective. This includes board
relations, staff management, financial administration, membership services, and resource development. The responsibilities are global in scope, but the position location is the greater Washington, DC area, with some travel expected. CCIH is an equal opportunity

RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership and Management
- Board Support – Supports CCIH board in carrying out its responsibilities
- Financial Management – Recommends annual budget for Board approval and oversees prudent management of organization resources
- Staff management – Effectively manages the human resources of the organization
Communications
- Oversees all aspects of CCIH communications
- Serves as a voice for CCIH, representing the collective Christian international community on global health issues, among faith-based organizations and the larger global health and development community
Fundraising
- Researches and pursues opportunities to secure major donations from individuals and organizations with the capacity and demonstrated interest in supporting Christian missions and faith-based global health work.
- Develops and maintains external relationships to take advantage of new government and philanthropic program opportunities
- Oversees any foundation, government, or private grants and, as appropriate to the CCIH mission, develops new grant opportunities
Planning
- Cooperates with the CCIH board in carrying out strategic planning
- Develops the program portfolio of CCIH
Advocacy
- Represents CCIH with Members of Congress, Administration officials and their staff.
- Sets up and attends meetings on Capitol Hill with Congressional offices
Member Services
- Nurtures membership network and defines new member services
- Seeks avenues for growing the membership
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will possess or demonstrate:
- Evidence of personal Christian faith and commitment that can undergird ecumenical and interfaith action
- BA or BS degree, with advanced degree helpful
- At least ten years of experience related to global health and/or development
- Experience of having developed and operationalized strategies that led an organization to its next stage of development
- Experience in providing services to members
- Excellence in organizational management
- Past success working with a Board of Directors and cultivating board member relationships
- Excellent writing and public speaking skills
- Experience in grant proposal writing and success in fundraising
- Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach
- Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
- Qualities of service-oriented, consensus builder
- Understanding of congressional and federal agency systems, and how to relate to them.
- Familiarity with how Capitol Hill functions – Congressional schedules, committee processes (authorization vs appropriations), experience setting up meetings and meeting with Congressional offices.
COMPENSATION
Depends on many factors, but salary comparable to prevailing executive positions in small, faith-based non-profits. Health insurance also provided.
