Job Description:

Principal Role: The Accounting Specialist is primarily responsible for processing all contributions and receivables and also serves as the administrative assistant for the Network Finance Director.

The essential job functions for this role include, but are not limited to, the processing of contributions and receivables delivered to the office or through online giving or event registration systems. This individual is responsible for the timely preparation and distribution of monthly, quarterly and annual contributions reports, the assignment of numbers to constituents, and the coordination of pledge forms and other material associated with our annual giving campaign. As assistant to the Network Finance Director, this role has regular communication with members of our constituency, including, but not limited to, telephone calls and email communications.

Additional job functions include assisting other departments when needed and/or available. This includes, but is not limited to, assisting with the hosting of in-house meetings, as well as handling incoming phone calls and greeting individuals in the absence of the receptionist.

An accounting degree and/or 3-5 years accounting/bookkeeping experience is preferred, but not required. Knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping principles is required. A working knowledge of ACS Technologies People Suite and Financial Suite is preferred, but not required. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office is required, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook. The ideal candidate will possess proficient typing skills, along with excellent grammar and writing skills, good interpersonal skills, and strong organization skills. Attention to detail, with a high level of accuracy, is a priority.

The candidate must possess a basic knowledge of general office equipment (computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, etc.). The candidate must be able to maintain strict confidentiality regarding corporate, church, and individual information. This individual must be a self-starter that is comfortable working independently, while at the same time remaining flexible and handling multiple interruptions and adjustments to priorities throughout the day.
