Resident Advisor

This listing is for a position at our campus in Northern California, approximately 45 minutes from Redding, CA.

River View Christian Academy (RVCA) is looking for Resident Advisors (RA) to provide teens from all different life experiences with supervision and support in the areas of education, interpersonal communication, daily chores, spiritual growth, life-skills development and family relationships based on Biblical principles.

RA’s use Biblical principles to guide students through typical teenage struggles. Similar to a public school setting, RA's need to be prepared to work with students in issues related to drugs, alcohol, sexual abuse, eating disorders, adoption and dysfunctional family dynamics. 

RA’s are responsible for building positive relationships with students and giving them an understanding of God’s loving character and provide them with the hope, direction and skills needed to become healthy adults.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

• Supervision of students

• Maintain students’ schedule

• Supervise student chores

• Take students to appointments off campus

• Lead morning Bible devotions

• Facilitate and/or lead Sunday worship

• Individual prayer with students

• Discipleship - assisting students with Christian curriculum and issue talks

• Tutor students in institutionally-recognized academic and Christian courses

• Grade homework assignments

• Facilitate physical education sessions

• Take students to church

• Coordinate extra-curricular activities and off-campus field trips

Qualifications:

RA’s must be spiritually mature and have a heart for working with teens. This is vital as staff are responsible for providing the love and support students need, while maintaining the discipline and accountability required.

The ideal candidate will be teachable, able to perform well under pressure, a team player and have strong communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills. This is an entry level position. Prior experience is not a requirement, but is considered. On the job training is provided.

Optional, low cost Room & Board is available for employees who would like to live on campus and is deducted from pay in accordance with California laws.
