Northwest Community Church of Cary, NC is seeking a full time director of worship arts. The ideal candidate should be spiritually mature, theologically grounded, and yet have a fresh and innovative approach to leading God’s people in worship. The individual should be able to lead well, yet have the equipping heart to raising up leaders and teams that will give opportunities for increasing numbers to experience the life-changing presence of God through worship.

Northwest Community Church (www.northwestlife.org) is a biblically centered, culturally relevant, multi-generational church in beautiful Cary, NC. We are a young church plant (about 10 years old) – and we are excited about all that God is doing in this community. Strategically located between Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, northwest Cary will continue to see huge population growth over the next 20 years. We want to be poised to reach this area (and beyond) with the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ. We have a somewhat unique team approach – instead of a senior pastor we have a pastoral lead team made up of 3 senior staff. The worship pastor will report to the senior staff team and work directly with them for worship service formats, creative ideas, and programming.
Church demographics: Northwest currently has a weekly attendance of about 500-600 with 2 Sunday services. We currently rent out Panther Creek High School (a brand new facility) and have dedicated volunteer teams making the space functional for portable ministry. We have purchased land and anticipate beginning to build a permanent facility sometime in the next year.
Church Philosophy: We desire to bring the equipping model and the attractional model of church together: Why not have a church that teaches Biblically and yet can be relevant enough to be understood by everyone? Northwest is an independent non-denominational church that is a Southern Baptist cooperating church (not a member of the Southern Baptist Convention, but a cooperating church – which essentially means we are like minded in doctrine and practice while maintaining autonomy). We are unapologetically rooted to the best of the past while fearlessly discovering new expressions of worship for the future. Our church provides a ready environment for a strong candidate to be expressive as an artist, cultivate excellence as a musician, and to have freedom to develop teams, leaders, and volunteers. Presently we have a modern mix of worship that ranges from styles similar to Hillsong, Chris Tomlin, Passion, Elevation Worship, etc. Even so – we also love the deeper theology of updated arrangements of hymns.
ll Position Profile for ideal candidate:
Working in partnership with the lead team, the Worship Arts director will give overall pastoral leadership and oversight to all the worship ministries and services of Northwest Community Church while serving personally as the primary worship leader. He will develop all facets of the ministry – leaders, teams, technology, arts, musical and spiritual development – to build an atmosphere where worshippers can be engaged and moved into the presence of God. This will be done in a way that is consistent with the character of Northwest Church and is focused on helping to engage new worshippers.

To this end the Director will...
- Oversee all aspects of worship service development and implementation...
- Be responsible for the development of all worship, artistic, and support teams...
- Be the discipler of volunteer worship leaders – including giving opportunities for them to occasionally lead and transition songs.
- Assist the Creative Catalyst pastor in crafting services, choosing music to supplement the message, and input into message ideas, graphics, videos, etc.
** Additional consideration will be given for a candidate who has the training/ability to produce videos, podcasts, etc.. This would greatly enhance the opportunities to enhance our services and share God stories with the community through social media.
ll Candidate Profile
Qualified Candidates for this position will have exemplary Christian character including a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a proven record of integrity in their personal and family life, interpersonal relationship, and local church life.
They will have demonstrated proficiency in music and the arts, preferably guitar-led worship. We will also love to see some level of training in theology or ministry.
They will be future-leaning with music, art, technology, and video that continues to move Northwest Community church toward the future.
They will be experienced shepherding people spiritually, supervising staff, cultivating leaders, recruiting and encouraging volunteers, and building healthy, functional teams.
They will be a good fit with Northwest Church and its staff, leadership, theology, and philosophy of ministry. They will have the ability to be a self-starter and know how to use the freedoms of flexibility and schedule to get their work done with excellence without constant supervision.
