Children Director

The First United Methodist in Panama City is continuing to develop a ministry that disciples our church family and prepares them to go out into our community to serve. We provide many opportunities to serve locally, nationally and around the world. Two of our local ministires that are making a big difference in our community is by being a host the of a Community Breakfast for the homeless on every Saturday. Monday night we host a celebrate recovery ministry that is strong and is growing in reaching youth and children as well as adults.

Our vision for Children’s Director is to share God’s love with children, and to instill in them that God loves them. Children today need to feel loved now more than ever.  They need to have a place that puts God first, and in the middle of everything. To be a part of the big vision of equipping families in experiencing God’s Grace and spiritual growth.

Primary Duties:

1. To participate as a team member on staff.
2. To plan, coordinate and implement ministries that affect the lives of children within our church and community with the gospel.
3. Coordinate with senior minister and church staff in planning and implementing various ministry activities at the church.
4. Participate in the Church’s vision of support to Life groups that provides support for nurturing our children when parents are involve in their disciple groups.

Responsibilities to coordinate on a weekly bases:

1. Make sure each Sunday school class is covered.
2. Coordinate and run Sunday evening activities.
3. Bring Bible stories to life during Moments with the Children. (Children Sermon 10:30 Sanctuary worship service.)
4. Make sure Children’s Church is covered for both services. 
5. During Fall + Spring…teach Wednesday afternoon “GOD’S Club” class
6. Coordinate and run Wednesday evening children’s classes.
7. Children’s Church bags are re-done each week for church services.
8. Work with local elementary schools to support the back pack ministry of food that will go home with students on Fridays during school year.
9. Pre-School Chapel on Wednesday and Thursday’s from 9:00-10:00am for both age groups..
10. Write Bulletin inserts for Sunday bulletins.

1. A strong love for children.
2. Strong organizational skills.
3. Ability to handle interruptions and be able to adapt quickly.
4. A caring spirit to be able to listen, to guide, to love and to care.
5. A strong conviction in sharing the gospel for the transformation of a child’s life.

Education Desired:  Graduation from college with preferred degree in elementary education or a Christian education degree.  Having Christian education classes is a plus.

Salary is based on experience.
