Salem Media Group in Detroit is searching for an Assistant Operations Manager for our growing radio and multimedia major market cluster.

 

Summary:

The ideal Assistant Operations Manager is a dedicated, hardworking team player who thrives in a fast-paced time sensitive environment.  This person will provide coordination and back up to the Operations Manager for our News Talk, and Teach Talk radio stations: FM101.5 & AM1400 ‘The Patriot’ and FM92.7 & AM1500 ‘FaithTalk Detroit’.  A positive, detail oriented and servant minded individual, with a passion for excellence, will flourish in this role. 

 

Responsibilities:

Report directly to the Operations Manager to assist in the 24hour delivery of audio and multimedia content via radio, internet, and mobile in the emerging broadcast environment -

  • Supervise and provide continuing education to part-time Studio Technicians
  • Coordinate production of all programs for broadcast; produce various local programs; acquire, record, and manage satellite feeds; produce and engineer live programing.
  • Execute format and broadcast schedule changes in Rivendell broadcast automation system.
  • Provide Operations Manager, with coordination in the ongoing training of Studio Technicians, ensuring smooth operations of the equipment and broadcasting of both national and local programming 24 hours a day. 
  • Liaison with local pastors, show hosts and their guests for scheduling and producing both live and taped programming.
  • Create promo and spot scripts, producing action driving content relevant to our audience 
  • Additional responsibilities as determined by the Operations Manager.

 

Requirements: 

  • Experience with Rivendell automation or similar system. 
  • Major market radio and network programming experience.
  • This position may require working outside of regular business hours to accommodate programming needs and/or provide assistance to operations staff.
  • Detail-orientation with the discipline and capacity to follow-through on projects

 

This is NOT an entry level position.
