Job Description:

The Family Editor is a full time (40 hours/week), temporary position expected to last for three months.   The Editor will be responsible for producing family and Christian lifestyle content for several of Salem Web Network’s (SWN) editorial websites, focusing on Crosswalk.com. The right candidate will be excited by the idea of delivering the highest quality content to a Christian audience and will be looking for innovative ways to improve the audience experience with Crosswalk.com in particular.

 

As an editor, you will assist in the selection of appropriate content for inclusion on the websites as well as write, edit and post text features. You will assist in the production of online video interviews. You will manage several devotionals and many basic website functions of Crosswalk.com. Daily duties will include writing, interfacing with freelancers and content providers, editing and uploading articles, collecting material for our online publications and email newsletters, and assisting with the Crosswalk.com Facebook page.

 

Qualifications

 

The ideal candidate:

 

  • Will have a bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, or Communications (or equivalent experience) with 1-3 years of experience in a related editorial field.

  • Must have solid writing and editing skills, and experience writing on deadline.

  • Must be a self-starter, highly organized, and detail-oriented with experience managing large editorial or web projects. Will display a strong work ethic and operate productively in a team environment.

  • Must demonstrate editorial innovation and creativity.

  • Must demonstrate an understanding of our evangelical Christian audience members’ interests, behavior, and core values.

  • Will display an ability to interact with both corporate and religious communities.

  • Will show a general understanding of Google Drive, social media websites, and general internet practices.

  • Experience running a Facebook page for a commercial or non-profit entity a plus.
