Position:                                           Band Director ~ Adult Worship Arts

Reports to:                                       Director of Worship Arts

Schedule Requirements:              45 hours per week, including Saturday from 3 pm until 7 pm and Sunday from 8 am until 12:30 pm.

The Worship Coordinator must have a belief in Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior and must maintain a personal and ongoing walk with God through the power of the Holy Spirit.  She/he must strive to submit daily to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.  Additionally, this individual must agree with Grace Community Church’s statement of beliefs and our philosophy of ministry and maintain a courteous, Christ-like attitude in working with people.  The individual in this position must be a member of Grace Community Church.

Summary of Position:      

The individual in this position must have excellent musical ability, as well as excellent team building skills.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, weekend instrumental service (scheduling all components of the band and participating in worship), new band member development and all rehearsals.  The individual in this position will also provide video development, production and editing.

Essential Responsibilities:

?   Team encouragement and nurture of instrumentalists including proactively checking in with team members to know how they are doing; providing the Director of Worship Arts information when someone on the team needs pastoral care; and ensuring everyone knows there is someone they can come to with questions or concerns.

?    Production tasks such as attending team production meetings (standing meetings and impromptu meetings); assisting with the scheduling of appropriate weekly bands to ensure the best worship experience possible for our members and guests; assisting with providing follow up reminders to members of the instrumental teams to complete tasks that have been assigned; and other musical production tasks as assigned.

?    Provide instrumental support on weekends as part of a band.

?    Follow up with musicians interested in joining the team, including proactive recruiting, auditions and assimilation onto a worship band.

?    Develop four diverse worship bands that reflect our community while adhering to the various worship styles that are uniquely ours.

?    Proactively assist the Director of Worship Arts with overseeing, planning and executing church wide auditions.

?    Develop, write, direct, shoot and edit Grace produced video.  Proactively recruit and train videographers to capture film at each Grace event, as well as during regular programming throughout each year.

?    Participate in creating budget on a yearly basis, as well as ensure adherence to budget line items.

?    Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

?   Proven ability to recruit and lead volunteers.

?   Proven musical ability, preferably acoustic guitar.

?   Self-motivated

?   Administrative background to be able to identify and coordinate details required to execute weekly programming.  

?   Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

?   Proven ability to work with a team as both a leader and as a receiver of suggestions and direction.
