Job Description:

Salem Media Group, America’s leading radio broadcaster, internet content provider, and magazine and book publisher is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as an Internal Auditor.

Job Summary

The Internal Auditor will be responsible for assessing and evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls of Salem, using a risk based audit methodology. Perform audits, special projects and follow up on action plans.  The position will be headquartered in Camarillo, CA and will report to the Internal Audit Manager. 

Responsibilities

  • Assessing and evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls of Salem, using a risk-based audit methodology
  • Assist in preparing and support a thorough and documented organization-wide Internal Audit Plan
  • Perform walkthroughs and develop or update narratives, internal controls documentation and risk matrices
  • Accountable for performing audits in a timely manner and complete special projects as scheduled
  • Document audit test work and procedures in an organized set of work papers and prepare audit reports as well as communicate audit findings and recommendations with company management
  • Track audit follow-up efforts and assist with reports on progress
  • Perform other duties or tasks as assigned or required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
  • Active (or in the process of attaining) relevant certifications such as CPA or CIA
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP, GAAS and COSO internal control framework, including familiarity with the common indicators of fraud
  • 2+ years SOX 404 including recent experience
  • 1+ years internal or external audit experience
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision with considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment
  • High level of integrity
  • Flexible and energetic personality
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including a professional and diplomatic demeanor
  • Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, listening, and presentation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office  specifically Excel, Word & PowerPoint
  • Very high level of organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent consulting, problem solving and analytical skills

Travel Requirements

  • Some travel (approximately 10% of the time) may be required
