Job Description:

Calvary is actively seeking a new Student Ministries Director to lead our middle school and high school ministries. The person who fills this Student Ministry role must be a dynamic leader with godly character and deep biblical knowledge, who can connect well with middle school and high school students, drawing them into a living and vibrant relationship with Christ. This person must be a passionate follower of Jesus Christ who can build and lead an energetic team of part time staff and volunteers. The person should have a minimum of 3-5 years of student ministries experience, have a bachelor’s degree, ideally have seminary training, have strong communication skills, have a passion for excellence in all they do, and be in a stable, Christ-centered marriage.

The person who fills this role must be comfortable around an affluent, highly educated, sophisticated congregation. The person must be able to engage this community with love and grace, without being overly impressed nor intimidated by the affluence.

The Student Ministry Director is a unique position to spiritually impact the young people for Christ in our congregation, school, and community; many of whom come from families that are influential in the world of business, entertainment and government in Los Angeles.

We are looking for a confident and prayerful leader with vision and creativity with how youth ministry is carried out. We desire someone that resonates with the following personal characteristics:

- Exercises moral courage and a willingness to do what is right regardless of what those around them think and feel

- Models holy living and sets an example for our students of self control and discipline in their daily walk

- Has a compassionate heart of grace and the ability to speak the truth in love

- Recognizes the power of sharing their own story of grace with authenticity as a tool for discipleship

- Walks comfortably in the culture of today, but trembles before the Word of God

- Moves confidently between students and adults, building credibility among both generations

- Exhibits a spiritual maturity and ability to articulate the depth and power of the gospel to students in relatable ways

- Approaches ministry with a commitment to prayer, and the ability to develop and empower leaders and students

- Presents biblical truths in ways that challenge our students to dig deep and contemplate the depths of God

- Embraces adversity with flexibility and confidence, while remaining an “all in” team member

- Prioritizes obedience to the Holy Spirit, while being a risk taker that is unafraid of chartering new waters

- Worships God authentically and loves others sacrificially
