It is essential that the missionary be able to serve under the leadership of Shukugawa Bible Church. We expect the missionary to work in the capacity of a full-time church staff member to support the church’s ministries. The missionary will teach conversational
English classes from Tuesday to Saturday. Each class includes a 15-20 minute Bible lesson, which the missionary prepares and teaches. Each class holds two to six Japanese students and most of them are non-believers.
On Sundays the missionary will attend worship and church events, which may last most of the day. You will be able to worship with and serve alongside Japanese believers! During the Sunday morning worship service, our pastor presents a strong expository
message, which is simultaneously translated into English. In addition to our English ministry, we also have thriving young-adult, parenting and children’s ministries. Many of our church members are fruits of our English ministry.
Our church and English school moved to a new building in January of 2012 and we are praying for more space as we grow.
It is a growing, disciple-making church in Japan where the average church member is 30 people or less, God has been blessing our church to have over 100 people in our congregation.
It is an exciting, growing ministry to be a part of!
This is a wonderful ministry that's great for anyone seriously considering missions. While any TESL experience or knowledge of Japanese would be helpful, neither are required; however, flexibility, a servant's heart, commitment and love for Jesus and for the
Japanese people are essential. Because of the ministry focus and living situation, Americans in their 20's and 30's are the best fit for this position.
Our church provides housing, utilities, and medical insurance for each missionary, as well as monthly financial support of 130,000 yen. We require the missionary to sign a two-year contract, but many stay longer.
If you are interested in this ministry, desire to work alongside a local evangelism and discipleship-minded church, and agree with the terms above, please contact us. We welcome any questions you may have. Come join our ministry to reap a harvest among the
Japanese people!
To apply, please send us your Christian faith testimony and a description of your current faith life, a resume, two recent pictures of yourself, and a pastor’s reference.
