Job Description:

This position exists to first serve the worship leadership needs for both Powerlife (Jr. High) and Ignition (Sr. High) at the West Des Moines campus. In addition to these roles, the Worship Leader will help with weekend worship leadership and/or fill in on instruments as needed and as available.

 

For the Worship Leader position, we are looking for individuals who can confidently and effectively perform the following duties:

 

  1. Lead an effective rehearsal
  2. Know how to coach musicians and vocalists to help them execute the music confidently
  3. Be able to create chord charts
  4. Be able to lead from an instrument, like acoustic/electric guitar or keys
  5. *Be able to play multiple instruments to fill in as needed
  6. Schedule volunteers for bands
  7. Have or learn knowledge and navigation of Planning Center Online and Pro Presenter
  8. *Have or learn knowledge and usage of Ableton Live, Reason, Pro Tools and other recording/enhancing tracks for worship and recordings
  9. Be a faithful follower of Christ and continue growing in their faith and musical gifting
  10. Be intentionally relational, especially to students, and other volunteers

More specifically, here is what the role means for the Student Ministry programs:

 

  1. Has an authentic love and compassion for students
  2. Shows ability to try new and innovative ways of helping students connect with God in worship
  3. Able to lead band rehearsals that are both spiritually developmental and musically developmental for high school students
  4. Able to lead large group worship with a high level of energy
  5. Able to lead from an instrument (preferably guitar or keys) and without an instrument
  6. Meet once a week with HS Coordinator and Children and Student Production Coordinator to evaluate, plan, and pray for weekly worship
  7. Lead worship at other student ministries events (Late night worship, Retreats, First Wednesday, Etc)
  8. Recruit and develop musicians and vocalists

Weekend worship services include modern worship music for the 5 services in the Worship Center and we have 1 traditional service on Sunday mornings that is run by another group of staff and volunteers separate from the Worship Ministry. All of the worship teams other than Hope Worship staff are volunteers, which gives people a chance to use their gifts to serve the church as well as build a community within the ministry.

 

We have regular gatherings for our worship volunteers to celebrate what is happening in Hope Worship and to dig a little deeper both musically and spiritually. The work atmosphere is relaxed and fun, but we do work hard at making worship the best it can be for our volunteers and the worshiping congregation.
