Discovery Church is a young church in Bristol, TN with a huge heart for service.  First meeting in 2011 in the YMCA, it now sits on 80 acres of land with a modern and open building.  This Christian Church has a regular weekly attendance of around 600 and has been following a large growing trend for the past four years.  The DNA of Discovery is serving our community, Bible-based teaching, emphasis on prayer, and a high focus on creativity.  Discovery Church strives to “Help people discover Jesus and their place in His story.”

 

Connections Pastor

Much of what churches do revolve around Discovering Jesus (for example Sunday morning), but at Discovery we want to take the next step -connecting people to God’s plan.  The focus of this pastoral role is to help people discover their “place in His story.”  This position connects individuals with God to reach their potential in God’s plan for their lives.  These plans may or may not be within the walls of Discovery Church but within the walls of God’s Kingdom.  This position is perfect for someone with a humble heart that is excited when guiding others to flourish in God’s hands.  

 

Job Description

Title: Connections Pastor

Purpose: To guide and coach individuals to “Discover their place in His story” as well as help assimilate adults into Discovery Church.

Reports to: Lead Pastor

Time: 40+ hours/ exempt

 

Responsibilities and Duties

-To provide guidance, coaching, and assistance to individuals so they may reach their full potential in God’s story.

-To connect people at Discovery into areas of ministry and volunteer opportunities.

-To oversee the discipleship needs of adults in the church through small groups, men’s and women’s ministries.

-To oversee the assimilation of the “Guest Experience” from their first visit, to follow-up, to connection and serving.

-Oversee Sent To Serve (quarterly church wide community service)  -connecting with new and current sites and leaders.

 

Special Abilities Needed

-Must have good communication (both verbal and written) and organizational skills.

-Gifted in networking with people, and assessing where they may best be connected within the body and our community. 

- A growing knowledge and profession of the Christian faith.

- A humble spirit -someone willing to fully get on board with other people’s ideas and passions.

- Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives with

minimal supervision.

-Bachelor’s degree.

- In addition to spiritual maturity, the gift sets important to the fulfillment of this role include administration, teaching, shepherding, and leadership.
