Job Description

Position: Teacher

Salary: $20 - $25/hour

Ministry Purpose. In accordance with Ephesians 4:11-12 and Titus 2:7-8 the Teacher is responsible for training the next generation of Christian leaders and equipping them for a life of service to their Savior, homes, churches, vocations, and communities.

Primary Responsibilities: The following constitute the major responsibilities of the Teacher:

  1. Spiritual

The Teacher shall:

  1. Seek to be a role model in attitude, speech and actions in a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ.
  2. Integrate Biblical principles and a Christian worldview into all curricula and teaching.
  3. Instructional Planning, Preparation and Delivery
    • Develop a careful and creative program by following curriculum guidelines for the assigned grade level students and the school’s goals .
    • Design lessons with clear, focused and measurable instructional objectives
    • Modify plans based on student diagnostic and assessment procedures.
    • Integrate technology to enhance/accelerate learning.
  4. Assessment
    • Maintain records to document learning accomplishments by preparing administering and scoring pre-assessments, formative and summative assessments, eliciting student feedback and questions, evaluating application of learning to classroom project results.
    • Use student data to plan instruction, and provide additional or varied forms of instruction.
    • Maintain records to document attendance, grades and behavior.
  5. Classroom Environment
    • Create a classroom environment that:
      • develops in each student skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing that are fundamental to effective communication and literate citizenship .
      • promotes positive social interaction by observing each student to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem.
      • motivates students to read widely for information and recreation.
    • Create an environment of respect and rapport through reinforcement and praise.
    • Encourage students to accept God and the gift of salvation and grow in their faith, provide opportunities to lead in prayer, and develop a Christian mind and lifestyle.
  1. Communication and Professionalism
    • Communicate and collaborate with with parents and other educators.
    • Maintain confidentiality.
    • Comply with Federal, State and Local legal requirements.
    • Contribute to MVCS system’s effectiveness.
    • Contributes to spiritual growth of the program through example, instruction, personal and professional studies, and personal devotions and worship.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Be a mature, born-again Christian who fully supports the MVCS Statements of Faith and Responsibilities and performs in such a way as to fulfill the school mission, purpose and philosophy of faith-based education.
  2. Be called and committed to the ministry of MVCS. Does not regard their responsibilities as just a job, but as a ministry and feels a high sense of commitment to the Lord and His calling on his/her life to be at MVCS.
  3. Be willing to submit to and honor the standards outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or the Code of Conduct.
  4. Faithfully attend and financially support a local church whose beliefs are in agreement with the school.
  5. Bachelor’s degree and experience in the educational field
  6. State licensure or ACSI certification
  7. Able to pass background, fingerprinting, and child protection registry check
  8. Certification in child/adult CPR & first aid
  9. Understanding of the principles of child development, best practices and educational methods
