  • Oversee special event planning centered on Kids and their families making connections with one another
  • Ensure Church Story anchors are a part of every decision and directional conversation that happens in the Kids & Special Needs Departments:
    • Post-Christian Filter: In a cultural climate that is no longer influenced by Christianity and seems to be moving further away from God, we always consider the skeptic, the doubter, and the “de-churched” in all community initiatives, in-house programming, and communication.
    • Great isn’t good enough:  We are passionate about our work and mission, so we do everything with innovation, enthusiasm, and urgency– even when it’s difficult.
    • Multicultural:  We value all ages, ethnicities, backgrounds, and faith traditions and consider each when planning, leading, and serving.

    Focus

  • Challenge the status quo by always critically thinking of ways to improve (space, team, lessons, communications, all aspects of the Gathering time)
  • Develop and oversee implementation of policies and enforce compliance across the Kids & Special Needs spaces
  • Dream BIG about opportunities and a future vision for the Kids & Special Needs Departments
  • Share agreed-upon opportunities and vision with Story Team Members
  • Dream of ways to make the Kids and Special Needs Gathering on Sundays the best day of the week, including how to utilize space for maximum safety and learning
  • Develop and maintain all security standards

   Equip

  • Distribute material to the Kids & Special Needs Story Team Members
  • Gather and maintain an inventory of supplies needed (crafts/activities/etc.) for the weekly gatherings
  • Develop a healthy community among parents and equip parents for discipleship
  • Empower Story Team Members to lead all aspects of Kids & Special Needs Gathering
  • Communicate immediate emergencies/urgent issues as they arise
  • Ensure child safety by observing adult-to-child ratios (as mandated by state laws) and monitor growth for the opportunity to add additional rooms
  • Weekly contact with Story Team Members and evaluate areas for celebration, improvement, and needs—team members like to be heard with action following

CS values you as the Kids Pastor/Director and wants to encourage you to reflect on and remember what we value in a Leader, in you and your Team:

  • Relentless Transparency:
    • Anything hidden becomes potential for pain or dysfunction, so we are open and honest as individuals and as a church.
  • Explicit Gospel Living:
    • The life found in personally trusting the death and resurrection of Jesus for salvation and purpose leads us to clearly express and demonstrate this good news in our homes, workplaces, and neighborhoods, leaving nothing about our lives assumed or implied.
  • Uncomfortable Generosity:
    • Unity in the church is strengthened when we invest our time, talents, and treasure in meeting the needs of one another in the church while caring for the community around us.
