Purpose

Multiply and mature students as disciples of Jesus Christ. Provide direction and pastoral care to the staff and volunteers of the High School Ministry, as they minister to students. Shepherd, lead and build biblical community for high school students and their families through the High School Ministry and other related and supportive ministries.

 

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • To maintain a personal, ongoing, abiding relationship with Christ on a daily basis through prayer and personal interaction with the Bible.
  • To serve the kingdom by being aware of and prayerfully seeking personal opportunities of passionately sharing the life changing truth of Jesus Christ with those of the world that are without Him.
  • To serve the church family as a member of the Senior Leadership Team by ministering through prayer, counseling, teaching and other aspects of building believers and equipping disciples.
  • To regularly report to the Lead Teaching Pastor of another assigned member of the Executive Team for accountability, encouragement, planning, and personal development.
  • To ensure integrity and responsibility in all areas of the ministry.
  • To serve the staff and leadership of the Student Ministry by providing leadership and resources to fulfill the mission of creating a missional ministry, that will be structured to mature and multiply disciples for God and His kingdom.
  • To develop and oversee programs to actively reach the students of the community.
  • To partner with the Pastoral Staff in ministering to the student families of Central Church.
  • To spend adequate time with students and families to build relationships and minister to them.
  • To recruit, train, supervise and minister to applicable paid staff as well as recruited volunteer staff.
  • To provide counseling to students, parents, and volunteers on an as-needed basis.
  • To participate in leadership and direction of special missions programs, service activities, lunch room visits, social events, teaching sessions, and athletic programs.
  • To maintain and coordinate the calendar for the Student Ministry in support of the overall church calendar.
  • To encourage church membership and ministry among the students and actively participate in the assimilation of visitors and new members to the church.
  • To manage the budget for the Student Ministry.

Non-Negotiable Skillset

  1. Trustworthy / Humble – This individual must ensure integrity and responsibility in all areas of their ministry. Church members must be able to trust this individual with their students.
  2. Biblically Sound – This individual must be aligned with the theological norms at Central. Some type of official training in Bible and theology is required. An M.A. or M.Div. is preferred.
  3. Able to Administrate – This individual must be able to create and operate an effective ministry program with limited day-to-day administrative oversight. This individual must also be able to clearly identify and advocate for the needs of the ministry.

 

Desired Leadership Traits

  1. Entrepreneurial Drive – An ideal candidate would have the ability to be creative in finding new opportunities for ministry growth and the drive to follow through on realizing those opportunities.
  2. Driven to Make Disciples – An ideal candidate would lead a student centric component of the overall church mission to make disciples through student and family engagement in partnership with the Pastoral Staff. Additionally, and ideal candidate would develop a strategy for pulling in students already at the church who are not currently involved in the student ministry.
  3. Highly Efficient at Leadership Development – An ideal candidate would lead a leadership development program for students and adult volunteers with assistance from the Pastoral Staff.
  4. Highly Evangelistic and Outreach Focused – An ideal candidate would be proficient in developing effective strategies to reach students in the community who are lost, un-churched, or under-churched.
