Good Hope Baptist Church in Cary NC, is prayerfully receiving resumes for our future Associate Pastor of Student & Sports Outreach Ministries. This future pastor will work under the supervision of the Senior Pastor and alongside a team of staff members and volunteers to oversee all areas of ministry to students and their families in addition to providing leadership for the Sports Outreach Ministry.

The previous Student & Sports Outreach Pastor served in this capacity for nine years and recently relocated to serve as a Lead Pastor in a nearby Baptist church. JOB DESCRIPTION

Associate Pastor of Student and Sports Outreach
Summary:  The primary responsibilities of the Associate Pastor of Youth and Sports Outreach are to plan, administer, coordinate, supervise, and evaluate a comprehensive and active youth ministry for grades 6-12. Secondary responsibilities include oversight of an intentional recreational sports outreach ministry.

Qualifications

  • A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
  • Consistent spiritual and moral character and lifestyle complying with the biblical leadership qualifications (1 Tim 3:1-7; Tit 1:5-16; 1 Pet 5:1-4).
  • Possesses a calling from God to be a youth pastor (Eph 4:11-13).
  • A heart for young people and a desire to see young people led to Christ and discipled into a deeper walk with Christ.
  • Gifted in Bible teaching.
  • Agreement with Good Hope Baptist Church’s Constitution and Bylaws and the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
  • Exhibits a passion for God in his personal life, family relationships, and ministry.
  • Competent in organization, administration, and interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to work in a team ministry environment alongside the Church Staff, Elders, Deacons, and Ministry Team Leaders.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Give direction to and oversee the Youth Ministry including discipleship, evangelism, outreach, service, and fellowship.
  • Plan and develop programs for the youth ministry.
  • Evaluate existing programs to determine effectiveness.
  • Identify and provide ministry opportunities for students.
  • Work in coordination with the Pastor, Staff, and Elders to oversee the Sunday School program for the youth.
  • Lead a midweek Bible study for teens.
  • Partner with parents in the spiritual development of their middle and high school children.
  • Keep the church leadership and parents informed of all aspects of the youth ministry.
  • Meet monthly with youth ministry leaders to pray and discuss upcoming events, challenges, solutions, and praises.
  • Work with the nominating team to recruit student ministry leaders as needed.
  • Provide training for student ministry leaders.
  • Develop relationships with the youth providing discipleship, counseling, spiritual direction, and pastoral care.
  • Develop and lead the follow-up ministry for student visitors.
  • Communicate the vision of the youth student ministry to Good Hope Baptist Church via bulletins, website, announcements, and other forms of publicity.
  • Develop the student ministry budget and track expenditures throughout the year.
  • Contribute to the overall pastoral care of the church, including but not limited to hospital visitation, visitor follow-up, and member counseling.
  • Promote the ministry plan of Good Hope Baptist Church always seeking to resolve problems with other ministry leaders.
  • Meet with the pastor regularly keeping him informed of all events and activities planned for the youth and recreational outreach ministries. The Pastor may give further church-related responsibilities not previously stated.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, initiate, and lead a recreational/sports outreach program.
  • Evaluate costs of programs and offsetting fee structures.
  • Plan practice and game schedules and coordinate space and resources.
  • Supply age-appropriate devotional material for sports events as necessary.
  • Develop a structure of scholarship programs for participants in need.
  • Publicize sports programs to the community.
  • Recruit, evaluate, and train leaders and coaches for the recreational/sports outreach program.
  • Develop and maintain an intentional follow-up plan for the recreational/sports outreach program.
  • Develop the recreational/sports outreach ministry budget and track expenditures throughout the year.

Education and Experience

  • Three years of youth ministry paid staff experience required.
  • Required seminary degree (or degree in progress).
