New Hope Christian Fellowship – Youth Minister Job Description

The youth minister will be responsible for the following, but will need to be flexible to take on other appropriate tasks as needed:

Weekly youth group meetings will include:

  • Bible teaching
  • Worship
  • Prayer

Monthly youth events:

  • We believe in ministry through relationships. Relationships are fostered through community. Community happens both in church and outside of church. We also believe students grow in relationships through play / fun.

Summer / Winter camp:

  • It will be necessary for the youth pastor / director to promote and attend youth camps.

Student Connection:

  • The youth minister will be expected to make relational connections with students outside of church events, (i.e. attend youth sports events, meet with youth for meals, etc.)

Beliefs / Convictions:

  • The youth minister must have a passion for young people to know Jesus and grow in their relationship with Him. Discipleship is essential.
  • The youth minister must adhere to New Hope Christian Fellowship’s Mission, Purpose and Core Values.
    • The Mission:
      • We exist to love God, love people, and connect the two. Based on Jesus’ great commandment (Matt. 22:37-40) and His great commission (Matt. 28:19-20).
    • Our Purpose:
      • Love God with complete devotion
      • Love people by meeting needs
      • Live Holy Spirit empowered lives
      • Live as disciples of Jesus, who disciple others
    • Our Core Values:
      • We live by the Bible.
        • 2 Timothy 3:16-17 tells us that all Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. We believe the Bible is absolute truth and shows us how to live a life fully committed to Christ.
      • We are devoted to prayer and worship.
        • Prayer and worship are foundational. We believe God moves in a powerful way when we purpose to pray and worship Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.
      • We do church together.
        • Hebrews 10:24-25 tells us to spur one another on toward love and good deeds, meet together often, and encourage one another. “In a Group, On a Team” is something you’ll hear often at New Hope. There are no ‘lone rangers’ in God’s Kingdom… We all do our part and we need each other.
      • We live discipleship.
        • Jesus told us in Matthew 28 to make disciples, baptize them, and teach them to obey Him. We live to tell others about Jesus, and how they can have a relationship with Him. In making disciples, we believe family is foundational. Parents are the primary teachers in their children’s Christian education and discipleship. The discipleship and care of our children and youth are a top priority.
      • We exercise spiritual gifts.
        • We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit as described in the Book of Acts (specifically Acts 2). We believe all gifts of the Holy Spirit are necessary and are given to encourage of the Body of Christ and to share the Good News of Jesus.
      • We reach out to the hurting and the lost.
        • People matter to God, so they matter to us. We believe evangelism is crucial. We must get outside the “four walls” of our church building and bring the Good News to the hurting and the lost… locally and around the world.
