Associate Pastor of Spiritual Formation

The Associate Pastor of Spiritual Formation will assist the lead pastor in helping Pritchard Church meet their mission to “be the presence of Christ” in South End and Charlotte, NC. In conjunction with the lead pastor, form a spiritual development plan for membership of the congregation. This discipleship plan will include kids and youth ministries, as well as the Sunday School (potentially being renamed) and other groups. This pastor will help develop new leaders and facilitators as well as continual development for current leaders and facilitators. Supervisor is the lead pastor, and this pastor will be liaison to the Christian Education Committee and perhaps one more. 

Qualifications and Experience

Master of Divinity or Master of Arts in theology or related field preferred

Bachelor’s degree required (preferably in a ministry related field, but experience and knowledge of key concepts will also be considered)

Ordained or willing to be ordained

Agreement to abide by the four theological principles that guide Pritchard Church (Authority of scripture, priesthood of all believers, autonomy of the local church, and separation of church and state)

Prefer a candidate that is willing and able to live in the South End/Dilworth neighborhood in order to be a strong pastoral presence in the immediate geography of the church facility

Spiritual Formation

(Approximately 20-30 hours per week)

• Oversee Sunday School/Connect Group ministries
• Help train, encourage, and develop new facilitators and leaders for classes and groups
• Help develop and regularly run a new members’ class
• Ensure that each member of Pritchard and each visitor has a clear path to spiritual growth
• Assist the lead pastor and worship pastor in worship planning, sermon series planning, and overall execution of the worship service
• With the lead pastor, develop an integration plan and strategy for new members

Plus ONE (and only one) of the below categories

Volunteer Coordinator

(Approximately 10-20 hours per week)

• Develop a strategy for training and recruiting volunteers at all levels, including rec ministry, music, Sweet Spirits, children, youth, facilities
• Regularly schedule and plan volunteer appreciation events

Outreach Coordinator

(Approximately 10-20 hours per week)

• Develop a strategy for getting to know the neighbors in close proximity to the church building
• Create relationships with other organizations and institutions to help expand our congregation
• Invite others with gifting to participate in outreach events and strategies

Sunday Experience Coordinator

(Approximately 10-20 hours per week)

• Help ensure that there is a cohesive and welcoming experience for everyone that joins for a Pritchard worship service
• Regularly ensure that coffee, signage, and facilities are stocked and ready for Sunday
