Associate Minister

Purpose

We are seeking an Associate Minister to primarily focus on:

• Pastoral Care/Visitation
• Spiritual Formation/Pastoral Ministry
• Liturgical Leadership in Traditional Worship

This role is ideal for someone who has a passion for sharing the love and grace of God by building one-on-one relationships and providing pastoral care in a personal environment, teaching biblical truths in small group settings, and offering spirit-led liturgy and prayer in Traditional Worship Services, all while working in close connection with our Senior Minister. This position is a part of the Saint Paul Ministry Team and must be a team player.

Key Responsibilities

A)   Pastoral Care/Visitation

• Regularly visit and provide pastoral ministry to our older members
• Offer communion to those who are homebound and unable to attend worship
• Communicate regularly with the Senior Minister to share needs and pastoral concerns

B)   Spiritual Formation/Pastoral Ministry

• Plan and teach weekly Bible Studies, Confirmation Classes, and other Small Group gatherings
• Recruit and equip lay members to serve as Small Group Leaders
• Build relationships throughout the congregation and serve as a Pastoral leader

C)   Liturgical Leadership in Traditional Worship

• Able to liturgize, offer prayer, and lead Traditional Worship Services
• Preach regularly throughout the year and as needed

About Us

Saint Paul Methodist Church, located in Goldsboro, North Carolina, is a historic downtown church with a long, rich history. The congregation is primarily Caucasian, professional families with a desire for orthodox Wesleyan theology and adherence to biblical authority. We are a Global Methodist Church congregation and we have approximately 400 members active, engaged, and attending. Our mission is to Worship God, Grow in Faith, and Serve Others in the name of Jesus.

We have two regular Worship Services each Sunday with divergent styles of worship and music. One of our services is a Traditional Worship Service full of liturgy and hymns accompanied by the organ and is held in our beautiful, classic Sanctuary. This worship service is live streamed online and is broadcast across the local television station each week. Our other Worship Service is a non-traditional service and is held in our fellowship hall with upbeat music and provides a more dynamic, family-friendly environment.

Compensation

This is a full-time Pastoral position accountable to the Saint Paul Staff Parish Relations Committee and reporting directly to the Senior Minister. Saint Paul offers a highly competitive compensation package including:

Qualifications

We need a Pastoral leader with the credibility and spiritual authority that comes from authentic discipleship to Jesus and a strong desire to serve others. This leader will have a pastor’s heart to offer love and compassion and exhibit excellent people skills. This person must possess a solid theological education (Masters preferred) with relevant experience leading in a local church. Saint Paul is a Global Methodist Church (GMC) congregation and the Associate Minister must possess or seek orders in the GMC.
